Voluntown CT
The Wylie Schoolhouse is currently owned by the Town of Voluntown and has been beautifully restored by the Voluntown Schoolhouse Restoration Committee. There are 5-7 members on the committee and it’s chaired by Jen Panko. If you’re interested at all in helping out contact the committee. Further information available on the Towns website.
The school is one of several that served the Town of Voluntown but is the only one still standing to date. It saw students from 1856 – 1939 and, I believe, for 40 years had the same school teacher. It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 62 mp, full framed, mirrorless camera and a Sony 10-18mm f4 lens at 15mm and a Sony 24-70mm lens.
All interior shots were photographed from the outside through a window pane.
Who could I contact about going in the wyle school house in voluntown ct. I would like to look around and take pictures if aloud. Thank you
Hi Mary,
I would suggest starting with the Building and Land Use Office, 860-376-3867. Explain what you want to do and ask if there is an email or a way to contact Jen Panko. She is the chairperson of the Wylie Refurbishment School Committee.
