Julian Alden Weir used these buildings and grounds, along with his family, as a summer retreat. Not only was this a working farm at one time but it became Julian’s hideaway to explore his artistic expression as a painter. Weir had some friends who also painted here as it became an artists community. artists Mahonri Young and Sperry Andrews lived and worked here to name a few. Julian moved here in 1882.
