Prospect Terrence Park
Congdon St, Providence, RI 02906
Prospect Terrence Park situated on a hill, just north of Brown University overlooks downtown Providence. This park lends itself well to skyline shots.
Attached are (2) skyline shots, (1) shot of Rhode Island Capitol building and a picture of a JUMP BIKE leaning against the outside fence of Prospect Park.
Settings all taken with Sony Nex 7 mirrorless camera and Sony 18-55 mm lens:
Capitol shot: 1/4000, f8, ISO 800. Focal length 55 mm (35 mm equiv. = 83 mm)
Downtown skyline: 1/320, f16, ISO 800. focal length 38 (35 mm equiv. = 57 mm)
Downtown buildings with red bush and foliage in front: 1/3200, f8, ISO 800. Focal length 55 mm (35 mm equiv. = 82 mm)
Red Bicycle: 1/500th, f16, ISO 800. Focal length 18mm (35 mm equiv. – 27 mm)
I must tell you that I’ve visited Providence countless times and for a city of about 180,000 people I like photographing in this city and driving or walking around. It’s a relatively clean city and, despite the fact that they have their share of crime, I always feel sale during the daylight hours downtown. I photograph in much smaller cities and don’t feel anywhere near as safe. I won’t mention names. (smile)
I particularly enjoy the parks along the waterfront, Little Italy (for it’s restaurants) and the area around Brown University. They also have a nice river running through through downtown in which you can take a gondola ride.
