I had originally stopped at Lighthouse Point Park to photograph, yes, you guessed it – the lighthouse!  It was early April, chilly, windy and deserted.  I had the whole park to myself. (nice)

When I parked the car and walked to the waters edge (about 1/4 mile north of the lighthouse), I was taken aback by the natural beauty I saw during low tide.  All this beautiful rock was exposed and you could see the lighthouse, as well, in the background.  An added perk was the presence of an old pier which was a lot of fun to photograph.  I would guess taking the same photographs at sunrise or sunset would afford you some seriously beautiful skies.

So I took various photo’s working my way towards the lighthouse.  In my opinion, the journey was far better than the destination.  I wasn’t overwhelmed by the shots I could set up of the lighthouse itself but I sure enjoyed the adjacent scenery.

Because I don’t live in New Haven it will cost me $20.00/day to come back during the summer if I want more photo’s.  Maybe I will, maybe I won’t but I sure had fun.  If you live nearby you might want to venture over.

You’ll notice there are (2) piers in this group of shots.  The one pier that has no boardwalk, (is completely open on the top) is actually located about 1/2 mile north of the lighthouse point location.  You have to leave the park and weave your car along north as close to the shore line as you can.  You’ll very quickly come to a small parking area adjacent to an Military Reserve post.  Park your car in there and look to the right.  You’ll spot the old abandoned pier.
