I recently visited the new CT State Police Museum located in the State Police complex directly behind Midstate Hospital in Meriden, CT. While there I was taken on a guided tour by a retired CT State Trooper. The tour comprised approx. (6) rooms full of historical artifacts from uniforms, Harley’s, photo’s, films and weapons.
During my tour I had the honor of meeting Retired CSP Lt. Edward Steele. I’m told that Lt. Steele generally drives over to the museum every weekend and chats with his fellow Troopers that are present. What’s special about that is that Lt. Steele is 100 YEARS OLD. I was only told that it wasn’t until recently that he even began walking with a cane. AWESOME and inspirational!
If you don’t stay to watch any films the tour goes fairly briskly. If you do have an interest in Police history I think it’s a good stop to make. There is no required fee but donations are accepted.
my wife and i were able to tour the facility and were absolutely astonished at the artifacts that were displayed and their condition .. it is a true treasure for our state .. the crew should hold their heads high for all their work..
Thanks for visiting my website Mike. I couldn’t agree more, it’s really a well done museum. Here in CT we have, in my opinion, one of the finest State Police departments you’ll ever find. Top of the line! We can be proud of the jobs they do for us every single day. It is not an easy life but very rewarding for those that can see it through.
