34 Perimeter Rd Windsor Locks, CT 06078

The circular building shown above is the CT Firefighters training academy. Although the building appears to be a full circle it is actually a half circle with a much smaller half circle type building to the rear center. This is a state of the art traning academy and you can learn more by going here.
On the grounds, and also shown in the slideshow, is Ct’s firefighter memorial which was dedicated in 2001. I believe the monument contains over 300 names. There are 20 slabs around the base of the monument containing the names of fallen firefighters.
In addition there are eight granite benches surrounding the memorial to represent the respective counties in CT.
The monument is approx. 13 tons of black granite measuring 12′ x 6′. The etching on the front shows (4) firefighters, holding a hose, as they battle a fire.
The back of the monument contains an etching that states “In Memory of those Firefighters Who Have Given Their Lives In the Line of Duty”.
Whether you believe in the Bible or not this verse from John say’s it all:
John 15:13
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Eternal respect and gratitude for all those brave firefighters that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
