Occasionally I have business in Cumberland RI. When I do I often stop at the Cumberland River State Park which is directly behind the Cumberland Mill Condominiums. This location, by the highway and walking bridge brings me nothing but peace. I just take in the surrounding view as well as the rushing water from the Blackstone River. You can’t beat it for lowering blood pressure.
The day I visited there had been considerable rainfall previously for quite some time and the rivers water level was several feet higher than normal. All the tree’s in the image and video were partially under water.
I did not have my photography equipment with me so I resorted to my smart phone. I walked to the waters edge. My biggest fear was that I would accidentally fall in the river as I edged just inches away. It was so deep and running so fast I don’t think I would have stood much of a chance. My second fear, but minor in comparison, was that my smartphone would fall in and be gone for ever.
However, the photographer in me just couldn’t resist. I propped my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on a rock for a 3 second exposure and was able to walk away with this image. The video was also taken on the smartphone.
If you’re ever in Cumberland you really should visit this park. They have a paved linear walking/bicycle path running adjacent to the river as well.
