Cheryl and I were chasing down a list of barns we wanted to shoot in Avon CT this chilly December day in 2018. Down the street from one of the ones on our list, low and behold, was this beauty. It was situated in an open field a considerable distance off. When photographed that way it lacked any interest. I then switched to a medium telephoto lens and stepped back into the roadway so I could frame the barn with the two elm trees. The telephoto helped “compress” the image bringing the barn closer to the trees. There was horribly harsh sunlight that day but fortunately the bulk of the shade fell in the foreground on the camera side of the tree’s not really creating any distraction to the barn itself. If you look carefully you’ll see our beautiful American Flag hanging from the fence to the left of the barn.
Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens @ 55 (the 35mm equiv. of 82mm).
