While Cheryl and I were on the hunt for barns in Southbury we stumbled upon this old gem. Which, of course, isn’t a barn.  I thought, at first, that it was some type of meeting house back in the day.  I wasn’t able to find anything on the internet about it so I reached out to the Southbury Historical Society.  Their President was kind enough to write back to me.  She informed me that this was a church from 1827 – 1942 and that the steeple had fallen off. It was eventually sold to the resident living next door.  Its current status is a little sketchy.  Having said all that I must say that I love this building.  To me it’s a gorgeous representation of yesteryear.  Thanks go out to the Historical Society for giving us some framework around this relic.

  1. Your photography is amazing and so inspirational. You have done an amazing job categorizing, describing and journaling sharing your experience and expertise. I commend you on that.

Thank you so much for sharing your passion. I have thoroughly enjoyed going through your pictures, and still have more to go.

Do you do any 1:1 or small group classes. I would love to learn from someone like you.

    Best Regards,
    Tara

    • Hi Tara,

That was certainly one of the nicest comments I’ve ever received. You talk about inspiration. You just inspired me to keep on keeping on. So I thank you for that. I probably should but don’t do any photography instruction. Back in the day, long before, digital camera’s I took the New York Institute of Photography’s course. It’s a great foundational course but it’s not cheap. It put me, technically, on an even playing field with serious photographers. From there I just needed to get lots of real life experience in all kinds of venues. I also interned for a number of top notch photographers before starting a professional business many years ago. Nowadays the internet offers so much in the way of free instruciton. If you have any photography questions or equipment questions or just wonder what to photograph reach out to me and I’ll do my best to provide you with information. Photography is a lot more than a hobby. It can get into your soul and you can go with it wherever your heart takes you. All the best. 🙂

      Jay
