A cornerstone of the community for nearly a century the Ideal Forging Company filed bankruptcy in 2003 and closed. At it’s heyday it employed nearly 1000 people but was demolished to make way for new housing in 2015. I myself, personally, called upon this factory as a field salesman for 35 years.
The company sat upon approx. 14 acres of land in downtown Soutnington CT and consisted of numerous buildings. I only show one of the shops and the main office building in this blog.
I don’t have a date for these images but I believe I took them in 2004. They were photographed with a:
Olympus E-10, 4MB, digital SLR.
The shop: Auto Mode, 1/500th, F 4.0, ISO 80, 12 mm. (35mm equiv. = 18mm)
The office: Auto Mode, 1/400tgh, F 4.0, ISO 80, 9 mm (35mm equiv. = 13mm)
