Nicely maintained and structurally sound cluster of two barns and a shed in Woodbury CT.
The barn on the right is not fully seen in the image.
SUGGESTION: While photographing I walked up and down the roadway shooting these barns from various angles in my reflective vest. At one point the homeowner was in the driveway and glanced over at me quickly. Very politely I said, from the roadway, that I’d like to explain what I was doing. Still without setting foot on the property and making this person feel uneasy I explained that I’m just a hobby photographer who travels around the state photographing old barns. I explained that I thought theirs was particularly beautiful. This set this individual at ease and before we parted I was given a list of shots, in town, that I might enjoy taking.
The point being if you act like a respectable photographer and treat people the way you’d like to be treated then folks don’t get a bad feeling about photographers. There are some photographers that stand on the ground that they are legally allowed to photograph anything from public access that is visible to them. Well, that’ not my style.
Full disclosure, courtesy and respect. That goes a long way and it also doesn’t get the Police called out on you. If I sense any concern from someone whose property I’m photographing I always ask them if they would like the image deleted. So far no one has requested that but if they do I’d offer to show them the camera and delete the images right in front of them.
