Slater Mill was buit in 1793 and was operatonal through 1921. It is the first hydro operated cotton mill of it’s kind in America. It obtained it’s power by the Seekonk River shown in one of the slide show photo’s.
In 1925 the mill became a museum. In the midst of Pawtucket, pop. 72,000, there still stands a bit of Americana to take us back to the beginning of the industrial revolution.
